Peter Hart Computers started business as an addition to the TV & Video business owned by Peter Hart. Located in King street, Market Rasen.
Peter started working with computers about 1972 when he purchased and built one of the first computer kits "A Nascom Personal Computer". His interests were helped by the formation of the "Lincolnshire Microprocessor Society" by
Air Vice-Marshall MD Lyne and the then Bishop of Lincoln. He became an active member of the Personal Computer Club there and learned many things from some very learned members.
His computer knowledge was further increase as he became involved with computers of that era such as the BBC microcomputer, the Sinclaire ZX 80 and the Olivetti Z8000 series.
Learning to use "assembly language programming" and "basic" was quite demanding at the time but served to help in later years as his programming interest came to the fore.
As his knowledge increased he started to look at the various branches of computing with a view to extending his business into selling computers and attended many courses to help his knowledge. About 1983 having become interested in the programming side of computing, he began to look at a new database programming tool called DBase. Later some employees of Ashton Tate who wrote that tool, split off and formed "Fox", Peter decided to "Run with the Fox" and made that his main programming language.
Since then many programming projects have been taken on and applications such as Seed budgeting (for the farming industry), Project management and Time Sheeting (for a well known Lincolnshire Company), Accounts programs, Purchase Order and Stock Management programs etc.etc. have been written.
Late in the 80's Peter was fortunate to meet with a lady and gentleman who had
been the given the job of keeping the records for the Civil Service Alliance'
Their head office had decided to bring the Alliance up to date by purchasing
an Amstrad Computer. Unfortunately the Computer and the Company they purchased it
from proved not fit for the job.
Peter was given the job of finding a suitable computer and then to give IT support to the "Records Secretary".
During that process it was discovered that the Membership application was written
in a language called "Clipper" which used the same databases as DBase and FoxPro.
Peter was able to write modules in FoxPro that was able to work alongside the "Clipper"
application and produce reports etc. on the Membership data.
Later he was given the job of re-writing the application, expanding its facilities and eventually produce the sophisticated application it is today.
The application is still in use although now it is once again being re-written to make use of the new technologies in sending email, producing PDF's, Encryption etc.
Peter keeps himself up to date with all the changes, new things happening, in the industry. He prides himself in being able to solve his clients problems with speed and satisfaction for the client. What he doesn't know he can find out from his many skilled friends and colleagues.
