Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Question
I use Internet Explorer as a browser. I have heard that to save time
when loading pages, I can set them to load without the images. How
do I do this?
- Answer (Internet Explorer 6 -7 - 8)
- Open Internet Explorer and click on the 'Tools'
drop-down menu.
- Go to 'Internet Options...' and select it. (If you
cannot find 'Internet Options...' under 'Tools' try the
other drop-down menus.)
- Click on the 'Advanced' tab, and scroll down to
'Multimedia'.
- Under 'Multimedia' you should find 'Show Pictures' with
a tick in its box. Uncheck this option by clicking in the
box.
- Click on 'OK' at the bottom of the 'Internet Options...'
dialogue box, and use the 'Refresh' button in your browser
to reload the screen without images.
Extra Information
You may decide you want to view images again at some point in
your browsing. If this is the case, you have two options:
- If it is a specific image that you want to view, simply
right-click within the box that marks where the image would
be. A menu will appear with an option, 'Show Picture'.
Left-click on this option and the image will load.
- If you wish to view the page with all images loaded,
simply recheck the 'Show Pictures' box by going through
'Internet Options' as detailed above. Remember that you will
then need to Refresh your screen to reload it with images.
