Question
When I press the '@' key on my keyboard, quote marks appear on the screen. Why is this?

Answer (Windows XP)
Your keyboard has not been correctly configured, and has American settings. This can be easily changed by:

  1. Clicking on the Start button at the bottom left of the screen
  2. Going up to 'Settings' and clicking on 'Control Panel'
  3. In Control Panel, double click on the 'Keyboard' icon and select the 'Language' tab
  4. Click on 'Add...' and scroll down to select 'English (British)'
  5. Make sure that 'English (British)' is set as default - to do this highlight it and click on 'Set as Default'
  6. Remove 'English (United States) if required, by highlighting it and clicking on 'Remove'
  7. Exit by pressing 'OK'

LogMeInClients of Peter Hart Computers can make use of a program called LogMeIn.  This will allow Peter Hart or one of his staff to use "Remote Access" to view their desktop and either correct problems with their computer or show them how to do things for themselves.
